Scripture:
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” — Isaiah 43:19
Reflection:
There are moments in the addictive cycle when freedom feels impossible. You’ve tried before. You’ve prayed before. You’ve promised yourself before. And yet, here you are again. The shame whispers that you are beyond saving, that you are too far gone. But God does not deal in dead ends. His love carves a path where none seemed to exist. His mercy reaches into the wilderness of compulsion, the wasteland of regret, and speaks life.
You do not have to claw your way out of this alone. Healing is not about trying harder—it is about surrendering more fully. The Lord is already at work, making a way. Your call is to step forward, even if it is one trembling step at a time.
Prayer:
God of New Beginnings,
I am weary of this battle. I am tired of falling, of making promises I cannot seem to keep. I confess my powerlessness. But You, O Lord, are not powerless. You are the One who parts the seas, who makes rivers flow in the desert, who calls dead things to life.
Make a way for me now.
A way beyond my cravings.
A way beyond my shame.
A way beyond the patterns that have chained me for too long.
I do not ask for instant relief, but for Your presence to guide me. Let me take the next step toward healing, trusting that You are leading me even when I cannot see the way forward.
Amen.
Practice:
- Take a deep breath and sit in silence for two minutes. As you breathe in, imagine inhaling God’s mercy. As you exhale, release the shame that tells you this is impossible.
- Journal a small, tangible step you can take today toward healing. It may be reaching out to a trusted friend, setting a boundary, or simply whispering the words, Lord, help me.
- Read Isaiah 43:19 again. Let it sink into your heart. Ask God to help you see the new thing He is doing, even if it is not yet clear.
